There are 80 churches in Velventos. When a family does well, comes into money, wants to commemorate a family member, or moves away, they often build a church for the town. They range from the modest to the extravagant, and may be built in town or off in a forest or a field. This small one in the center of town has the oldest known chapel in Greece. Our family built one that also has a barbecue and picnic area. This one was build Xeno, my dad's old neighbor from Velventos, who now lives in Florida and helped us reconnect with our family!
