Velvento 17 - Black Widows
The widows here still wear black. Older women of a certain generation (like Koula's mother here) look like the traditional image of a Greek widow, but younger women, widows in their 60's or 70's (like yia yia Froso), you don't notice at first. Coming from NY where everyone wears black, they don't look so strange, they're wearing normal clothing that just happens to be black (or gray, or black with patterns on it). Froso's husband Giorgio has been dead for 10 years, and while her family encourages her to stop wearing black she still doesn't feel ready.
