Velvento 13 - Coffee Time

Morning coffee
Every morning sophia's kitchen door is opened and the town comes by for coffee, sweets and a chat neighbors, the people who clean and take care of the public parks, and or course family are all welcome.

When kostas hurt his back a few years ago, he was in bed for a year. he told the men in the village that they could harvest his peaches and keep the money as long as they took good care of his trees. All year they brought his family firewood, ran errands, fixes things, and since then Sophia feels its her duty to take care of them in return, and anyone else who's around.

Afternoon Coffee
When we aren't having coffee at a cousin's house we sit outside and have coffee at home. All of the neighbors come over to meet us and they all tell stories about stefan. many remember him from when he was young, and everyone remembers his mother searching for him. The same story over and over, a story that's at once heartbreaking and heartwarming to hear. Every time someone would come to the villagefrom America, she would ask them if they knew her "Stefo", and every time someone would go to America, she she would give them letters and gifts and ask them to find him.

Greek Coffee
1 tsp sugar (Or to make it less sweet, 1/2 tsp)
1 tsp greek coffee
1 small cup of water (espresso size cup)
cook until it begins to boil, don't strain when you pour into cup

*Update from kiki (thanks kiki - we'll definitely be making this at home!): "the secret of good coffee is to take it out of the fire before it gets to boiling point. You have to to watch it carefully as the coffee begins to rise, leave it for 5 secs and serve."
