On our only full day to explore the island, we set out for the beaches. First stop: Black Beach. After winding around the confusing and label-free roads, we arrived to a beach with blue water and black sand. As we grabbed our things from the car and set off for the shoreline, we picked a spot right by the waterline to camp out. We relaxed, tanned, swam, snorkeled, and played paddle ball (of course). It was a great start to the day and another fun family bonding experience.
After black beach we continued on to the White Beach. All of the rock formations surrounding the beach were sandstone, rippling and twisting for miles. We climbed up a bit to get some cool shots, but it was so soft and dusty that it was hard to go much higher than we did. The sands were a mixture of white and brown, and even some black close to the water again. People called it the White Beach because of the white sandstone and majority of the beach color being the same.
Our next and last beach destination was the Red Beach. We were told we'd have to hike a little bit to get to the beach itself, but it really wasn't too bad. It was actually more of a wonderful viewing experience than anything else as we came over the peak to see the red sands backed up to a curvy carved-out rock wall. The colors were so rich and intense, especially juxtaposed with all of the blue and white umbrellas and camped-out beach-goers. This beach was a bit more rocky along the water line and made for more difficult paddle ball games, but we definitely enjoyed chilling out for a bit before taking off to our next spot.
