First Stop: Athens

Athens - the crux of Ancient Greece; the heart of a classic empire; a modern urban sprawl inlayed into rolling hills and mountains by the crystal seas.

This expansive city seems never to end with tightly knit complexes of apartments, shops, markets, squares and plazas - full with fruit stands and vendors yelling "Ene Evro! Ene Evro!" (one Euro, for a bag of cherries or a few pieces of fresh corn, which I might add was quite delicious) - and of course the countless pieces of ancient Greek history juxtaposed beside one another.

On the way from the airport to Psiri (our two-day home neighborhood within the city) we passed the olympic stadium built in 2004 for the Athens games.
